Support
A study aid for the Canadian commercial pilot licence (aeroplane) written examination, CPAER — air law, navigation, meteorology and aeronautics general knowledge.
Questions, bug reports, or a question you think is wrong? Email patrguzz@gmail.com. Corrections to the question bank are especially welcome — please include the question and the reference you're working from (TC AIM section, CAR number, or the study and reference guide).
Requirements
iPhone or iPad running iOS 26.0 or later, or a Mac running macOS 26 or later. Studying works entirely offline; the internet is used only by iCloud, to sync your progress between your devices, and by the App Store for the optional Full Access purchase.
Full Access, restoring a purchase and redeeming a code
The app is free to try: 50 practice answers in any mode, one full 100-question CPAER mock exam, and the whole Library. Full Access is a single one-time in-app purchase — no subscription — that unlocks every question, unlimited mock exams, the four supplementary papers and all the trainers, on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. It follows your Apple Account.
Restore a purchase. On another device, or after reinstalling, Full Access unlocks by itself once the App Store confirms it; if it does not, tap Restore purchases in the Full Access section at the bottom of the Library tab, or on the purchase screen. You need to be signed in to the same Apple Account that bought it.
Redeem a code. Have an offer code? Tap Redeem a code in the Full Access section of the Library tab, or on the purchase screen, and enter it in Apple's redemption sheet. Full Access unlocks as soon as Apple confirms the code. (A code cannot be typed into the App Store's own Redeem screen if it is a custom code; use the link you were given, or the button in the app.)
With iCloud sync on, the free answers and the free mock exam are shared by your own synced devices.
How the app works
Practise by topic with instant feedback (select an option, then Confirm answer to see the explanation and its reference), or sit the full 100-question mock exam under the real 3½-hour time limit with the pass rule as the examiner applies it — 60% overall and 60% in each of the four areas — or one of the four shorter supplementary papers: CALAW (20 questions), CANAV (25), CAMET (25) and CAGEN (35). Every answer is tracked: missed questions come back on a spaced schedule in Smart Review, and the Home tab estimates your readiness by area and topic. The Nav Log Trainer plans a fresh VFR cross-country between real aerodromes and asks the heading, groundspeed, time, fuel and compass questions computed from it; the Loading Sheet Trainer generates a weight-and-balance problem; the METAR & TAF Trainer generates a weather report and forecast to decode; and the Calculation Drills generate altimetry, time-speed-distance, fuel, time zone, crosswind, medical-validity and similar problems with worked solutions. With a keyboard, A–D or 1–4 choose, Return confirms, and the arrow keys move through a mock exam.
Progress, iCloud and resetting
Your iPhone, iPad and Mac combine their progress through your own iCloud account: answers add up, the review schedule carries on from your latest answer, and mock exam results from every device appear together. Sign in to iCloud on each device; the switch is in Library › Sync, and it is on unless you turn it off. Every device still keeps its own copy, so studying works offline and catches up when you are back online. To start over, use "Reset all progress" at the bottom of the Library tab: with sync on it erases progress on every device, with sync off on that device only.
A question looks wrong?
Every question carries an explanation and a source reference. If you believe an answer conflicts with the current TC AIM, CARs or CFS, email the question text and your reference — verified corrections ship in the next update. Always treat the current official publications as authoritative.
About the nav-log aerodromes
The aerodromes in the Nav Log Trainer are real Canadian places, positioned from public-domain data so that tracks and distances are realistic. The winds, variation, airspeed, fuel flow and deviation card are generated for practice and are labelled as planning variations. Never use a generated log for a real flight.
